From Michigan to Wyoming seemed to be a bit dull relative to what we've seen so far on this trip. We are getting slightly jaded and probably needed a few dull days anyway. I was suprised to find out that too much beauty too consistantly is challanging in a way. We almost stopped this trip after 2 months for that reason alone. Too much unbelievable beauty every day and of every type dulls the experience for the next location. But after a few days driving in somewhat uneventfull landscape, we again were ready for beauty, and found beauty beautiful again. Add 2 more weeks.
These tame, simple rolling hills of Idaho and eastern Washington are one of the most tranquill areas of this country for me. The Palouse, hours and hours of undulating landscapes of wheat fields. Cut and uncut fields, up and over and around these gentle mounds. A deep blue sky dotted with pure white clouds that drop shadows on this single color pallet creates such drama.
